So we recently had a discussion about using PC Controllers (for PC of course) and what is acceptable, and what is not.
As someone who does not know a whole bunch on the type of controllers and their advantages or disadvantages on the compeitition, I'd like for you more experienced folk to give your input.
I know the straightness of shots is frowned upon on the TGCT and can get a player DQ'd - what should we deem here at the RGT? Is it about the controller, or the software we use? Some PC users, myself included, use a PS3 or Xbox controller with software recognition to allow the drivers to work properly. This still present raw data, and for those that have seen me play my rounds, the sensitivity is true.
Please have it, guys. I'd like for this to be resolved. Thanks!

I've never used a controller on a PC, so I don't really have an opinion on anything specific. However:
Anything that allows someone to straight shoot should not be allowed
I would hope since this is a "sim" league that people wouldn't feel the need to do this, but you never know.

Stock Xbox or PS4 only and make sure you're controller software isn't set to dial out any axis sensitivity. Would be a shame if we have to start monitoring rounds like we do on TGCT.

If one can increase the sensitivity on their profile, and let's say 50 results in straight shots all the time, what would be the right percentage between 50-100? Anyone have experience with this? It seems logitech have the option to set their sensitivities.

So are we saying that the controller that i'm currently using (a Logitech F310 gamepad) is banned from playing on this tour?

So are we saying that the controller that i'm currently using (a Logitech F310 gamepad) is banned from playing on this tour? It's my call, and I'm not going to ban anything that can't be modified such as sensitivity. Reap, do me a favor and raise the sensitivity slider a couple clicks incrementally and let me know what you find out. I personally think the research on game controllers in relation to TGC is lacking. "Stock" ps4 or 360 controllers are not possible on the PC - it's not simply plug n' play, we have either DS3 Tool (yuck) or the 360 emulator (yes) which is what I use with a PS3 controller. I'd love to hear more thoughts, but I'm not ruling or jumping the gun on this, I want to see what settings are applicable first.

The only way to change any sensitivity is to play in DirectInput instead of the standard XInput in order to make changes with the logitech software. This it inverts my swing on the controller in game (i.e. I have to press up to backswing and i can't find a fix for this). Also disables the trigger buttons so I am unable to use the modify shot selection at all!!!! This is because DirectInput is intended for very old games that don't utilize those buttons. From what i have found I can't edit any controller settings when it is in XInput.
I did try a few holes in the DirectInput settings and turned up the sensitivty all the way up on all the axis and the results were the same as every shot was straight as before with seemingly no difference before (besides the goofy controller input).
Finally plugged in the old ps3 controller and I did have less straight shots with it than the logitech off the drive. Now from what i've tested with both controllers i would say there maybe something with the logitech controller that allows it to hit straight drives more consistantly than the ps3, but i wouldn't say that it gives you a distinct advantage in the game. Putting for example with this "straight shooting" controller is difficult to hit anything over 10+ FT but the ps3 its much more easier to drain longer putts.

This is an interesting subject for me as I have just ordered a GTX 970 graphics card, so will likely play my tournament rounds on PC if it works and the game feels better/smoother. My plan is to use my DS4 if it feels the same as it does on my PS4. I have a 360 controller which I use at the moment when in the course creator, but when I test shots out it feels a bit strange after using the DS4 for so long.
I certainly won't be using any software to manipulate the sensitivity though.
Does anybody know if you can use a DS4 wirelessly on PC? as I would be playing on my TV in a different room.

I'm surprised this one has not flared up yet over on TGCT... PC is pretty much "pick your accuracy" and I guess PS4 and XB are different as well. Maybe this is why HB does not want to hear anything about upping sensitivity - it would possibly accentuate the controller differences...

I don't know if you can use DS3 wirelessly, I've always had a connected cable for the PS3 controller.
Reap, thanks for testing out the settings - I know you were trying everything.
T2 - I think Reap meant that the advantage wasn't really "straight" shots, it was more so that he make a solid shot more often, without the random pulls or pushes. With the no grid, the putting is another story. Like IRL, we know where we want to putt it - how we want to - but we still have to read the doggone green.
Either way, I appreciate everyone's response to this. It must be the logitech software the overrides any in-game sensitivity. I know reaper played with his PS3 controller in the 3rd round and actually made more putts - so there may be something to that it's not necessarily a higher sensitivity, but could be the fact that it registers a 'longer' stroke.

I use an Xbox 360 controller. Windows 8 self detects it. If there's some kind of additional software that makes it a straight shooter, I wouldn't have a clue what it was. I might get one absolutely straight shot per round.
